8pm Friday we have an in-house presentation on the Space Distance Ladder:

Space is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it’s a long way down the road to the chemist, but that’s just peanuts to space.

With apologies to the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Barry and James will show us how to measure distances in space using nothing more than a ladder. So if you could never get the hang of Thursdays then don’t panic as it is members night this Friday night. Bring all your unanswered questions about astronomy, space and telescopes. In fact bring your telescopes and something to share for supper. Afterwards there will be viewing outside and Vogon poetry in the hut.

Don’t forget your towel.

Following the talk and supper there will be viewing through the MBO telescopes (weather permitting).

Members’ Night is on every Friday night commencing at 8PM (doors open 7:30PM). Members and their guests are always welcome.

Please consider the neighbours and drive in and out quietly using low beam only, or better still, parking lights.

Please note: MBO will always be closed on days of Severe, Extreme and Code Red fire ratings, please see the CFA website for that information.

For weather information please see our useful links.
