Saturday 1st December 2018 – Young Observers
A good crowd of happy kids filled the cabin for our end of year party which started with a quiz. Nearly all the questions were answered (with a little help) then it off to the dome for a festive laser light show. After some food the kids stuck a pin on a map of the Milky Way where they though our Sun was located, and from that the order for choosing a prize was determined. Some families stayed on from the younger group to hear Nikki Usatov talk about her trip to Space Camp in Alabama at the end of September, then we had a different, harder quiz for the older group, followed by prizes for them, too. A busy night to wrap up a successful year.
A big thank you to helpers and teachers Heike Reich, James Murray, Jeff Shrowder for helping with the telescopes outside during the year, and Merv Mckibben for bringing some games and prizes along to the party night. It really does take a team of people to support Young Observers and your help makes it all run smoothly.
