Saturday 6th April 2019 – Young Observers

The weather was kind to us for our April meeting but only a small group of Novae gathered (it was the start of school holidays) to finish off some work on the Periodic table. We tried an introduction to spectra, matching some mystery spectra to their elements. That’s how we find out what things are made of out in space. The older Supernovae kids had an involved discussion on exoplanets and solar systems, even trying some solar system models before have a go at making a limiting magnitude estimate and making their first report on the Globe at Night website about local light pollution.
