Workshop No. 3
No experience necessary! Bring your own laptop for hands-on experience.
As you may have heard, Mt Burnett Observatory is hosting a workshop day at Emerald College on the 7th of December 2019. The keynote speaker will be Stella Kafka, Director of the American Association of Variable Star Observers, one the world’s premiere associations where amateurs can undertake, submit and publish their own observations. The focus of the workshop day in December is on ways to enable and facilitate interested members of the public (and MBO!) to undertake their own astronomical observations of interest for their own pleasure or to contribute them to science! Equipment is not necessary, as access to one of the robotic telescope networks will be provided, but guidance will also be provided for those using their own equipment.
Leading up to the day, Dr Michael Fitzgerald, expert in robotic telescope networks and student/pro-am astronomy research (https://www.oursolarsiblings.com/), will run a series of Saturday afternoon workshops to upskill MBO members (and others) to a stage where they either support, co-teach or lead some of the workshops on the day!
