Young Observers Night at the Observatory
Come and Learn about Rockets and Spacecraft
Constellation of the month is Capricorn
Weather permitting, we will be pointing the telescopes at Saturn and other interesting objects.
Did you know that the first astronauts sat in a tiny capsule on top of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) waiting to be shot into space?
We will learn more about how rockets have developed through history and maybe even (safely) launch our own simple rockets at our August meeting.
The size and power of the rocket determines the limits of the size and weight of the satellite, planetary probe or manned space craft that can be launched and whether it can escape the gravity of our planet.
When booking, choose a role from the drop down box when booking tickets. Select the age group that works for each child.
7pm – 7: 30pm if Weather is great, we will have telescopes set up for people that wish to view before the event starts.
7:30 pm – 9:30 pm the rest of the young observers event will be running.
You are all welcome to come so please join us.
“MBO Staff” tickets are for the event coordinators only to book in.
You will only be allowed onsite if you have a ticket
Please Note:
You can book tickets up until 5:00 pm on the day of the event, unless booked out before that. We do have a limited number of people we can have up at the event for safety reasons.
These events are for the younger members of our wonderful Observatory family; anyone from the age of 5 to 15 is welcome to come and enjoy a great night. We also of course welcome accompanying adults, who may also learn something they may not know, plus its a great night to enjoy with your kids.
